Dire Straits – Why Worry

Baby I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But baby I’ll wipe away those bitter tears
I’ll chase away those restless fears
That turn your blue skies into grey

Why worry, there should be laughter after the pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now

Feels just right to listen to this great piece of music on this rainy day. So so so so good.

      1. If you weren’t really familiar with the Everly Brothers, they were hugely popular in the early 60s. In my opinion their best song (and maybe the Best Love Song Ever) is– Let It Be Me.

      2. Absolutely loved their style and immediately fell in love with the song. It leaves you craving that special and so so rare kind of love that makes your life complete… That “true love” that “will never fade”. Hope you got the reference ahah

  1. I didn’t know where else to put this– thanks for the ‘follow’ and I like all that I see here, some of it dead-on relateable. . and now you are ‘followed’ as well. βœͺ

  2. I didn’t know where to put this, so the Mark Knopfler post is close enough.
About the song Romeo & Juliet:
I learned that it’s based partially on a love affair he had with a female musician, head of her own band, trying to get famous. She hooked up with him when he first was seeing fame with Dire Straits, 1978-79. She admitted later in an interview that she used him for his fame and connections to further her own success, then tired of him and dumped him. Bitch ! (and she didn’t get what she was after.)

Apparently he took it pretty hard–you can tell he’s a romantic by his songs about love.
Her treatment of him is what the line is about–
‘I dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real,
how can you look at me like I’m just another one of your deals’

It’s practically heartbreaking when he sings –
‘I can’t do everything but I’ll do anything for you,
I can’t do anything but be in love with you. . .
And all I do is miss you and the way we used to be. . .

    1. The song is absolutely heartbreaking, it makes you think of people you loved and with whom you could have made it work. He is definitely a romantic, and I love that about his lyrics, I think he truly feels everyone word he writes down… MK will always be my favorite musician, for his awesome guitar skills and for the feeling that almost explode from his voice when he sings… He sings from the heart

  3. I have another video of the song from 1996, A Night in London- my favorite version.
He chokes up on those lines. I knew he couldn’t still be knocked down by that bad women almost 20 years earlier ! so I figured maybe his marriage was ending at the time- but he was clearly emotional.
