Bubble gum

Dad says I’m the bomb
A strong, beautiful woman
That can get anything she wants
By putting effort into it
But I think only Dad sees it
In the mirror
All I see
Is a face disfigured by tears
Eyes swollen
Because I cry myself to sleep
Over my irrational fears
You see, I was like fresh bubble gum
I was pink and tasty and fun
But I got stuck to the sidewalk
And have been stepped on one too many times
And now I’m just dull and gray
And hopeless
